WEDDING OPEN HOUSE AT BREWERS

Nice way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon - meeting brides and helping them plan the big event.  We joined Mare Flanagan as she brought local vendors together to showcase talent, skills and merchandise.  Thanks to Candy Kitchen for the scrummy chocolate treats!
En Masse brought along flowers, candles and jewelry.

STUDIO C PHOTOGRAPHY

Susan Centineo from Studio C Photography rushed into En Masse one day a couple of weeks ago and asked, "Do you have a bouquet I could borrow for a shoot?"
Of course we did.  ( We always have a little something on hand.)  She's good...really good.  Brought it back in half an hour and immortalized it for us.  Thanks Susan..

Also, I LOVE the dress in the second shot.  TLC Bridal is the place to go in Frederick for a wedding gown.

ALL HALLOWS EVE WEDDING

Stoney Creek Farm in Boonsboro, Maryland is a perfect bucolic setting for a fall wedding but take it up a notch and do it on Halloween day with costumes and faeries and you've got an unforgettable event. Flowers, wands, etc. by En Masse. Photography by Scott Church. I know it took many hands to put this together - more than we can credit here. It was beautiful and extraordinary. Congratulations Jason and Heather - Happy Ever After!

BOOKWORM EATS FLOWER

Lauren loves paper. And that is the big reason she made paper flowers for her bridal bouquet earlier this year. Now she's pursuing her talent for paper designs with a new business "Bookworm Eats Flower". Her blog says it all: http://tinyurl.com/yhgqvlk. We loved working with her wedding! Good luck Lauren.

PARTY BRIDE

Andrea, another "Party Bride" at En Masse, brought her friends and family on Friday morning for a design session to make their own wedding flowers. Great job everyone and congratulations to the bride and groom!

Rive Gauche 2009 at the Delaplaine

THEME: "Paris A La Mod". Rive Gauche is the yearly Gala held to benefit Delaplaine Center for the Arts. We love to work on this party. Check out the posters on the walls! All the gerbers were inserted thru drilled holes into water picks in back of posters. Go Angela - great results! I feel myself slipping into the sixties...

NEW WHITE HOUSE FLORIST

We've been waiting to hear who will be the new head florist for the Obama Administration in the White House. The search has not been highly publicised but there is news today that the end is near.

If it's Laura Dowling, our best and highest congratulations and regards to you!

Fiery Autumn Urn

This fiery, exotic fall bouquet brightened up our Gift Shop booth at the State Arboretum of Virginia Arborfest last week. Rosespoon protea, cockscomb celosia, anthurium, baby green hydrangea, pencil eucalyptus, callas, explosion grass, seeded eucalyptus.

The rest of the booth was colorful too. Sales were good. Happy fall!

MEGAN & DAN @ THE INNER HARBOR

Under the tent overlooking the Inner Harbor at Baltimore. Tonight we're thinking of Megan & Dan - Congratulations - we just know it's a spectacular evening! You guys lucked out. Next stop Australia...
The bridal and attendant bouquets.
Centerpieces with red undertones in their slinky little vases in red sleeves. Had to get out the trusty sewing machine for the sleeves. Wow - I can still sew but keep it simple please.

GREEN APPLES AND WHEAT

Making the typical fall theme look a little fresher.

PUCKER UP WE GOT LEMONS

We made two gallons of lemonade afterward. Couldn't get enough.

YES FALL IS COMING...

The air felt a little crisper this week and reminded me that fall is just around the corner. This wedding was meant to have a Tuscan feel, but the venue was rustic Americana. We mixed it up.

PAPER TISSUE POM POMS - We're NOT Martha

I don't consider myself a craftsperson and this proved it. Looks easy, right? I was happy to help our bride with it and said so. But there was a lesson to be learned and that is that I didn't truly know what I was doing and had to resort to directions. Found them online and with the help of two other people got the task down to 30 minutes per pom (BTW these are the size of small beach balls). Beware the sublimely EASY look of these little buggers. But I gotta admit, they're fabulous once finished. (Note to self: charge a little more next time.)

FRIDAY CREATIF

Waiting for the hurricane, feeling the creative moment of a Friday afternoon. Hydrangea, roses, anthurium, scabiosa pods, dianthus, cymbidium, barker bush, dusty miller.
Amaryllis, fujis, dianthus, mountain mint, protea, roses, dutch collar.
Flocked coral collars to give some texture to life.
