LIBRARY TEA - CELEBRATION OF BOOKS

The last two weeks have been fun, creative time at En Masse as we have tried to combine children's book themes with flowers.  These were real-life centerpieces at a tea held on March 20 to benefit the library.  It's an interesting and exhilarating experience trying to mesh stories and flowers, let me tell you.  I approached it from story first and adornment later.  We worked with 6 different stories:  Magic Treehouse, Children's Joke Books, Where the Wild Things Are, Strega Nona, Lightning Thief & Go Dog Go

FREDERICK HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR 2009

The Johansen house is lovely inside as well as outside and hardly needs any decoration at all, but IT'S CHRISTMAS...so we played around with a Della Robbia style garland on each of the two mantles and also for the window sills.  I've included some photos of the process of making/designing the garland for the sitting room.  But there was MUCH more going on than pictured here.  I hope you took the tour!  Thanks Kirsten for letting us get involved.

WEDDING OPEN HOUSE AT BREWERS

Nice way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon - meeting brides and helping them plan the big event.  We joined Mare Flanagan as she brought local vendors together to showcase talent, skills and merchandise.  Thanks to Candy Kitchen for the scrummy chocolate treats!
En Masse brought along flowers, candles and jewelry.

STUDIO C PHOTOGRAPHY

Susan Centineo from Studio C Photography rushed into En Masse one day a couple of weeks ago and asked, "Do you have a bouquet I could borrow for a shoot?"
Of course we did.  ( We always have a little something on hand.)  She's good...really good.  Brought it back in half an hour and immortalized it for us.  Thanks Susan..

Also, I LOVE the dress in the second shot.  TLC Bridal is the place to go in Frederick for a wedding gown.

Andrea, another "Party Bride" at En Masse, brought her friends and family on Friday morning for a design session to make their own wedding flowers. Great job everyone and congratulations to the bride and groom!

Rive Gauche 2009 at the Delaplaine

THEME: "Paris A La Mod". Rive Gauche is the yearly Gala held to benefit Delaplaine Center for the Arts. We love to work on this party. Check out the posters on the walls! All the gerbers were inserted thru drilled holes into water picks in back of posters. Go Angela - great results! I feel myself slipping into the sixties...

NEW WHITE HOUSE FLORIST

We've been waiting to hear who will be the new head florist for the Obama Administration in the White House. The search has not been highly publicised but there is news today that the end is near.

If it's Laura Dowling, our best and highest congratulations and regards to you!

SURREYBROOKE FARM

This afternoon while out and about I couldn't resist a quick stop at our best-kept local secret garden, Surreybrooke in Middletown. The lotus is in full bloom and makes for a stunning sight. For directions: http://bit.ly/4eivA. My little camera was on overload, just clicking away!
Why is it so many people in Frederick don't know about this place?????
