This weekend at the Baltimore Hilton overlooking Camden Yards during the game!  It was fab.  And the hotel staff were courteous and impeccable.  Thanks everyone for making our experience a great one.

LIBRARY TEA - CELEBRATION OF BOOKS

The last two weeks have been fun, creative time at En Masse as we have tried to combine children's book themes with flowers.  These were real-life centerpieces at a tea held on March 20 to benefit the library.  It's an interesting and exhilarating experience trying to mesh stories and flowers, let me tell you.  I approached it from story first and adornment later.  We worked with 6 different stories:  Magic Treehouse, Children's Joke Books, Where the Wild Things Are, Strega Nona, Lightning Thief & Go Dog Go. 

I TRUST YOU

Now I know I've said a million times that it would be so nice if we were just allowed to do what we do and it would be great if we could just take the budget and make the decisions about the flowers since we truly do know so much about what works and doesn't work. 

Then came Lauren ...  she told us to do something special and said she trusted us.

And that's precisely how to make me come up with something totally new and creative.  We designed these centerpieces with Lauren in mind since she's so chic looking.  She requested lots of candlelight, so where else to put that except inside the vase?  And then the flowers go on the outside.

FOR JUDY

Judy's dress was a deep pewter and she wore fab heels to match.  Both the ceremony and reception took place in the incredible ballroom at the George Washington Hotel, Winchester, VA. 
She asked us for deep, warm-tone flowers with no pastels.  We decided on a wonderful palette of florals including black magic roses, black beauty roses, el toro roses, red mikado spray roses, junglestar amaryllis, burgundy cymbidium, seeded eucalyptus, artemesia, agonis foliage, barker bush and cryptomeria japonica cristata.  All centerpieces were presented in footed Reed & Barton crystal compotes set on mirrors with candles underneath.

WEDDING OPEN HOUSE AT BREWERS

Nice way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon - meeting brides and helping them plan the big event.  We joined Mare Flanagan as she brought local vendors together to showcase talent, skills and merchandise.  Thanks to Candy Kitchen for the scrummy chocolate treats! 
En Masse brought along flowers, candles and jewelry.

ALL HALLOWS EVE WEDDING

Stoney Creek Farm in Boonsboro, Maryland is a perfect bucolic setting for a fall wedding but take it up a notch and do it on Halloween day with costumes and faeries and you've got an unforgettable event. Fiery Autumn Urn

This fiery, exotic fall bouquet brightened up our Gift Shop booth at the State Arboretum of Virginia Arborfest last week. Rosespoon protea, cockscomb celosia, anthurium, baby green hydrangea, pencil eucalyptus, callas, explosion grass, seeded eucalyptus.

The rest of the booth was colorful too. Sales were good. Happy fall!

MEGAN & DAN @ THE INNER HARBOR

Centerpieces with red undertones in their slinky little vases in red sleeves. Had to get out the trusty sewing machine for the sleeves. Wow - I can still sew but keep it simple please.

Low to the table, architectural centerpiece of galax leaves, carns, celosia, sweet william greentrick, safflower & lily grass.

HEAVY ON THE COLOR

This little bouquet is just so colorful and happy! Gloriosa lilies, baby green hydrangeas, veronica, pincushion protea, anthurium, garden roses in a leaf-lined cube vase.

PERKY GRASS CENTERPIECE

This just feels nice and cool. And yeah, it's kinda "green". Assorted mini gerbers "planted" in water tubes in wheatgrass and wrapped in aspidistra leaves, tied off with sage Midori organdy ribbon. Congratulations Julee and Philip!

LOUNGE FLOWERS

We designed the centerpiece below so that it can be adapted over and over with the base recycled each time. Today's flowers include: Cymbidium blossoms, Croton Leaves, Beehive Ginger (whole and cut apart), lily grass, river cane center column.

SUMMERTIME ON THE VERANDAH

Last night's class was just fab with lots of summer choices for our students. This bouquet was built by our instructor, Sharon, with visual "coolness" in mind. Greenery is always refreshing on a hot summer night. Millet Setaria, Mountain Mint, Baby Green Hydrangea, Ageratum, Israeli Ruscus, Lily Grass knots. Classic design never goes out of style...Where's my mint julep?

SATURDAY'S BRIDE & SUNDAY'S BOUQUET

Please make it rust, peach and brown but don't make it fallish...
Buffalo mokara, James Storeii orchids, Leonidas roses, Chocolate cymbidium, copper aluminum wire grid. Entire piece cold-glued. No water. Laid atop a Reed & Barton crystal compote. Affair held on a mountaintop where the air was pure and clear - fabulous July day for a wedding!

DAISIES FOR VOLT

Daisies, oncidium orchids, Serrada callas, steel grass. She loves daisies and it must be exquisite. Happy anniversary - 30 years of successful marriage!

CYMBIDIUM MAGIC

Use seltzer instead of water. It bubbles for hours.
